The Literacy Partners provide professional development to equip teachers with the tools for success in both reading and writing. The workshops provided will be facilitated by literacy specialists with an extensive background and a track record of success. Their experiences include  both teaching literacy in an elementary school setting and developing pre-service teachers at the university level and current practicing teachers. We are excited to partner with both teachers and administrators with their literacy needs!

Reading for Deeper Meaning: Comprehension Strategies that Work (2nd-8th Grade)

As teachers, we know the importance of students' being able to decode text, but decoding alone does not equate to reading. Students must be able to decode and acquire meaning from those words to have a meaningful interaction with the text. The Reading for Deeper Meaning workshop will help you not only better understand the process, but also gain strategies of "making the invisible (thinking), visible" for your students. This workshop will help you to explore the world of close reading to support readers in reading workshop, guided reading, and independent reading. Primary Writing (K-2)

Are you looking for a writing workshop that focuses on teaching and developing young writers, then this is the session for you! This hands-on professional development will help you understand the structure of writer's workshop while bridging the writing and reading connection through mentor text s and mini-lessons. You'll have the opportunity to explore the different types of writing, including shared, interactive, and independent. We will practice multiple developmentally appropriate pre-writing strategies that will help promote students' creative thinking as well as strategies to help develop the writing throughout the various stages.

Too often, educators focus solely on reading in the primary grades. This session will help you enhance your literacy practices by developing writing, that will in turn, support reading!
